A Citrus High School student Tuesday was charged with Disrupting School Functions after he said he had a gun on school grounds.
The charges are a misdemeanor.
According to reports, the boy yelled out that he had a gun earlier in the morning. Two students then reported the boy.
The boy admitted that he made the statement.
The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office would not identify the boy because he was not charged with a felony.
The school was placed on a brief lockdown and classes were interrupted.
The boy was realsed into the custody of his family.
