Citrus/Marion County — The National Weather Service confirmed to Citrus Gazette Monday that a funnel cloud did form Saturday evening near the intersection of County Road 39 and State Road 200 — the Citrus/Marion County border.

The photos were taken by Justin Coller and Deanna Welch. The photos circulated Facebook by way of Bubba Nubs weather.

NWS Senior Meteorologist Rick Davis said the funnel did not touch down nor did it cause any damage.

Davis, who also serves on the NWS emergency response team, said, “It is not actually considered a tornado unless it makes landfall.”
